SKULLS
Exhibition & Book Signing with Noah Scalin
Noah and Friends @ Martha's
Please join us on Thursday, October 23rd from 7-9 pm as we host an opening reception
for Skulls, an exhibition of art work by Noah Scalin. This show will offer a small example
of the work completed by Noah for his Skull A Day project/blog. In June of 2007, Noah
set out to create an image of a skull every day for a year. In the ensuing year, he
did exactly that, working with materials and environments as diverse as the sand on a
beach in Hawaii, the soles of his sneakers, a found guitar pick, and a friend's pregnant
belly. The project, which can be seen in full at Noah's blog, is impressive not only
in the fact that he stuck to his schedule, but in how divergent his art pieces are.
Over the course of the year, Noah's blog garnered international acclaim, winning the
2008 Webby People's Voice Award and landing Noah a spot on a recent Martha Steward show.
The project has also been chronicled in a Skulls, a new release by Lark Books. Noah will
be signing copies of this book on the night of the 23rd, so make sure you pick one up soon.
After the opening, we will move the party to the New York Deli where we will
have a projected slide show of all of Noah's skulls.
This show will be on display in our gallery through November 23rd.
